Slight Shift in Google Background Image
Problem:
There is a slight shift on the background image as shown below, is this survey file usable or would it be better to remap the whole thing?
Answer:
The imagery can easily be out by 5m or 10m compared to survey because Google may not have it positioned the image exactly and also when you set up the base station it calculates and autonomous GP location which can be +/-10m but normally much less.
It may have a problem but relying on image offset only is not valid.
If you are benching on the master benchmark before survey and again before earthworks, that is designed to remove any shift.
