How Easy is OptiSurface to Use for the Average Farmer?
While we have tried to make OptiSurface Designer as easy to use as possible, there's still a learning curve required which takes time and effort.
For this reason, we do not recommend anyone whose designing less than 300 acres or 100 hectares per year to do their own designs.
Farmers may think they are saving money doing the designs themselves but this is often false economics. An experienced professional designer can save a farmer money by:
(1) less time wasted by the farmer learning the software and
(2) probably lower earthworks from a more experienced designer being able to take advantage of the software fully.
Basic requirements are knowledge in operating a computer and a fair understanding on surface drainage and slopes.
