Issue:
We have been doing multiple grade designs for about 10 years now and have found that wide grade breaks can sometimes lead to some very large haul lengths which can quickly increase the levelling costs.

Solution:
Yes we have experience this.  We have solved this by having the ability to force a subzone's earthworks to balance but sometimes customers (like ourselves) are happy to pay extra haul distance to limit topsoil movement.
